Shelly Bouren

This month, Shelly recommends “The Power Of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact" by Chip and Dan Heath. This book is very thought-provoking and taught Shelly about the peak-end rule. This rule emphasizes the importance of the strongest and final emotion someone feels during an experience. Shelly finds herself often thinking of this rule when brainstorming how to optimize experience design.

Kevin Scheppman

Kevin suggests watching “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” The show format begins with a few news headlines and then transitions to one “main story” that takes a deep dive into a different current issue each week. These “main stories” have included: Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI Images, Net Neutrality, Data Brokers, Tech Monopolies, Inflation, Food Safety, Home Schooling, and a wide range of other topics. The host injects humor and sarcasm when appropriate but maintains a serious tone when necessary. It’s worth a look!
